Gilbert AZ Chiropractor’s Stress Tips

Chiropractic Gilbert AZ Resolutions

Dr. Heidi Chiropractic knows that life’s stressors -- sitting in traffic, too much desk work, etc., can and do show up as bodily pains in Gilbert AZ.

Lower Stress in Gilbert AZ

Here are some ways you can make some small changes to lessen these occurrences:

  • Exercise regularly. Mix it up. Do some cardio and balance it out with muscle-building and stretching exercise – like yoga and Pilates. Not only does it keep your body healthy and strong, but cardio exercise produces those feel-good endorphin chemicals in your brain, too.
  • Find alone time in the morning or evening for 5 or 10 minutes to pray, meditate, and or, simply reflect on things you were thankful for in the last 12 hours. The latter is especially good for providing perspective for what seemed like a really stressful day.
  • Take time to connect with loved ones. Whether it’s sitting down to a meal with your family (without electronic devices!) or maybe a phone call to a friend, attempt at least one of these daily.
  • Dr. Heidi Chiropractic says that if you sit at a desk at work all day, make a habit of getting up and walking away from your desk for a few minutes every hour or so. This can help prevent your back and shoulders from getting too tight. It’s also good for your blood circulation, too.
  • Get adequate sleep. Daily activities are less stressful when your body is rested and the mind is alert.
  • Do something for someone else. Volunteer in your community or even "pay it forward" by picking up the tab for the customer’s order behind you in line at the coffee shop. These can be positive ways to channel your feelings and get your mind off of your own problems, too.
  • Treat yourself to a therapeutic massage, play time with your pet, a moonlit walk with your spouse, or downtime with a good book.
  • Dr. Heidi Chiropractic always recommends eating a healthy diet. It’s essential for the best overall functioning of your body and mind. Well-nourished bodies are better able to handle stress. Starting your day with breakfast will keep your energy up and your mind clear.
  • Coffee is fine in moderation. Too much coffee -- more than 2 or 3 cups -- can end with an energy and mood crash. Reducing your caffeine intake means you’ll sleep better, too.
  • Keeping a sense of humor about life’s events is something Dr. Heidi believes works. The act of laughing helps your body fight stress in many ways.

If, after applying some or all of the above to your life, you feel less stressed, but body aches remain, don’t hesitate to call Dr. Heidi Chiropractic or an appointment. A visit with Dr. Heidi Chiropractic can lead to a healthier, happier, new you in Gilbert!
